Creative People

UJEP as a Catalyst for Regional Transformation through Education and Social Innovation

The work package “Creative People” (WP1) within the RUR project embodies a strategic response to the structural transformation of the Ústí nad Labem Region, a territory historically shaped by heavy industry and now facing a post-coal transition. This activity is designed to strengthen the human capital of the region, support innovation in education, and cultivate long-term resilience through inclusive and future-oriented learning. WP1 develops a comprehensive and multi-level educational support system, addressing all stages of learning – from early childhood to adult education – and engages a wide spectrum of stakeholders including schools, teachers, learners, families, and local communities.

Its focus lies in:

  • Raising the overall quality of education and pedagogical practice,
  • Reducing early school leaving, especially among socially disadvantaged groups,
  • Equipping educators with the tools, knowledge and community to drive change from within,
  • Activating regional identity and social cohesion through creative and value-based educational approaches.

By working with people who hold the greatest transformative potential – particularly educators and youth – this activity aims to reverse long-term social and educational disparities, increase aspirations, and provide a future pathway for talent to remain and flourish in the region.
